Gulf Coast Research Lab Check
Hattiesburg, MS—The Secretary of State presents a check for $432,307 to Southern Miss President Dr. Rodney Bennett for the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Research Lab. Including this payment, more than $2.8 million has been distributed to USM as part of a land settlement agreement.

Cat Island Purchase
Cat Island, MS—Secretary Hosemann announced the purchase by the State of Mississippi of a significant portion of Cat Island, one of the barrier islands located off the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Cat Island is the only barrier island remaining with significant acreage remaining in private ownership.
