Candidate Information

Effective July 1, 2016, all independent and special election candidates must pay a qualifying fee. See, Miss. Code Ann. §§ 23-15-297, 23-15-299, 23-15-359. 

Candidates for House District 89 an​d House District 106 must pay a $250 qualifying fee to the Secretary of State's Office when filing a Statement of Intent and petition containing the signatures of at least 50 registered voters of the district, certified by the respective Circuit Clerks' Offices. 

Presidential Nominees of registered Mississippi political parties must pay a $2,500 qualifying fee to the Secretary of State's Office when filing a Certificate of Nomination and List of Presidential Electors. See, Miss. Code Ann. § 23-15-785. 
Independent Presidential Candidates must also pay a $2,500 qualifying fee to the Secretary of State's Office when filing a petition containing the signatures of at least 1,000 registered voters of the state, certified by the respective Circuit Clerks' Offices, and list of Presidential Electors. See, Miss. Code Ann. §§ 23-15-359, 23-15-785.
