Policy & Research

The Secretary of State’s Study Groups include business professionals, state legislators, attorneys, CPAs, and other Mississippians who have been selected by the Secretary of State to analyze issues in their areas of experience and recommend improvements in these areas. In addition to issuing recommendations, study group members help develop their recommendations into legislative proposals, and often review the proposals with state legislators.

Visiting the various study groups’ web pages will allow you to view the agenda and read the minutes of each meeting. In addition, copies of enacted legislation and supplemental information produced by the Division will be posted from time to time on each page.

Over 20 of these proposals have been enacted into law.
