The Mississippi Secretary of State serves as the filing officer for Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) documents which are required under the Uniform Commercial Code, the set of laws governing commercial transactions. These documents include financing statements for manufactured homes, transmitting utilities, farm liens, and other entities.
Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code was adopted in Mississippi during the 2001 regular legislative session. The effective date for the revised Article (hereafter RA9) was January 1, 2002. Customers are encouraged to review materials on this website in order to become more familiar with the law. UCC laws are regularly updated and it is advisable to review all updates prior to filing UCC documents.
Administration of UCC filings makes certain commercial transactions possible. Keeping Mississippi UCC laws current with those across the country helps gives lenders and borrowers the security necessary to do business in Mississippi.
