Answer:

All cemeteries that are not exempt from registration are perpetual care cemeteries and must register with our Division. Types of cemeteries that are exempt include: cemeteries that are affiliated with or owned by churches or religious societies, established fraternal societies, municipalities, other political subdivisions of the State of Mississippi, or family cemeteries or family burial grounds, and community cemeteries. If you have a question about whether or not you should register your cemetery, call our Division at 601-359-9055 and ask for the perpetual care unit.

Initial and renewal registration is twenty-five ($25) dollars.

Answer:

Registration lasts for one year. All registrations expire on March 31st of each year. At that time, all perpetual care cemeteries must submit a renewal registration (and Annual Report) with the twenty-five ($25) dollar renewal fee.

The Perpetual Care Cemetery Registration Form is available on this website or you may call our Office at 601-359-9055 and ask for the perpetual care unit. The same form is used for both initial registration and renewal registration.

If you are the trust officer for any trust that contains funds from the sale of space in a perpetual care cemetery, then you should be filing the Trustee Annual Report. If you are unsure, call our Division at 601-359-9055 and ask for the perpetual care unit.
