Qualifications

A qualified elector of the district and a practicing attorney admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Mississippi for two years. Must be a resident of the district for five (5) years immediately preceding the day of the election.  Miss. Code Ann. §25-31-1.

Political Party Candidates submit a Statement of Intent and a qualifying fee as set forth in the Candidate Qualifying Guide to the appropriate executive party.

Independent Candidates file a Statement of Intent, petition containing signatures of not less than 100 qualified electors of district, and a $250 qualifying fee to the Secretary of State’s Office.
