Qualifications

A qualified elector, practicing attorney for five years, at least 26 years old, and a citizen of the state five years.  Miss. Const. of 1890, Art. VI, §173, Art. XII, §250.

Political Party Candidates submit a Statement of Intent and a qualifying fee as set forth in the Candidate Qualifying Guide to the appropriate executive party.

Independent Candidates file a Statement of Intent, petition containing signatures of not less than 1,000 qualified electors of the state, and a$500 qualifying fee to the Secretary of State’s Office.
