As we inch closer to the November Midterm Elections, it is important to remember we live in an age where misinformation spreads faster than ever before. With a few clicks, false narratives can spread across our communities, state, and country. Additionally, artificial intelligence has amplified this challenge, making it easier to create convincing fake images, videos, audio, and written content which blurs the line between fact and fiction.

Discernment has never been more important as technology continuously evolves. Mississippians must be willing to think critically, verify information, and rely on trusted sources. An engaged public committed to the truth is essential to a healthy democracy.

Through the continued efforts of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), the landmark, nonpartisan initiative #TrustedInfo2026 aims to highlight all state and local election officials as the nation’s most reliable source for election information. The goal of #TrustedInfo2026 is to strengthen voter confidence by directing the public to election officials.

To ensure Mississippians are educated on the elections process, we launched our Elections 101 campaign shortly after taking office. Through social media posts, videos, and the Secretary of State’s website, our team has worked to ensure every citizen understands the elections process from beginning to end and his or her rights as a voter.

In addition, our office provides a variety of resources to help the public access the information and services they need. From personalized election information tailored to your address through the My Election Day online portal to an opt-in text messaging system called TextMyGov or even the printable Voter Information Guide, we have tried to give every Mississippi voter an opportunity to obtain information through his or her preferred platform or medium.
