OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SECRETARY WATSON RE: NEWLY-ADOPTED ADMINISTRATIVE RULES

House Bills 1521 and 824 (Laws of 2020, Regular Session) authorized the Secretary of State’s Office to develop administrative rules with regard to absentee voting and polling place safety. Our office adopted rules that ensure absentee ballots are considered a voter’s final vote.

2020 GENERAL ELECTION ABSENTEE REPORT - WEEK 3

JACKSON – As of Sunday, October 18, 2020, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 120,253 absentee ballots requested, 115,848 absentee ballots sent, and 89,499 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2020 General Election.

JACKSON – Today, the Secretary of State's Office will host our fifth and final public hearing regarding Initiative Measure No. 65 and Alternative Measure No. 65A (medical marijuana). The hearing will take place at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson.

RUNOFF FOR SEPTEMBER 22ND SPECIAL ELECTIONS - ELECTION DAY REMINDERS

JACKSON –  The polls are officially open for today's September 22nd special election runoff for Senate District 15, Senate District 39, House District 37 and House District 66. While polling places close at 7 p.m., any voter in line at 7 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot.
