Secretary Michael Watson Recognizes World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

JACKSON, Miss. – In observance of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, 2026, Secretary of State Michael Watson urges Mississippians to educate themselves on the increasingly sophisticated threats of financial exploitation.

"We have continued to see our greatest generation targeted because of their vulnerability. Financial exploitation remains a dangerous threat to elderly adults, and I encourage all Mississippians to reaffirm their commitment to helping protect our senior investors," said Secretary Michael Watson.

Mississippi Receives East Mississippi Sentinel Landscape Designation

Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson announced today that the East Mississippi Sentinel Landscape (EMSL) has officially been selected for designation by the federal Sentinel Landscapes Partnership, recognizing the region’s national importance to military readiness, working lands conservation, and long-term landscape resilience.

Secretary Michael Watson Announces Historic Contribution to Financial Literacy

JACKSON, Miss. – Secretary of State Michael Watson announced today a resolution of his landmark cease and desist order related to BlackRock, Inc.’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

On March 26, 2024, Secretary Watson entered Administrative Order LS-24-6726 (the “Administrative Order”) that summarily ordered BlackRock to cease and desist from alleged violations of Miss. Code Ann. §§ 75-71-501(2), 75-71-501(3) & 75-71-502(a)(2).

JACKSON, Miss.  – Effective Monday, March 16, the Secretary of State's Office new office location at 660 North Street is open for walk-in customers. As a reminder, the previous Capital Towers location at 125 S. Congress Street is permanently closed.

The new office location is tentatively scheduled to open for walk-in customers on Monday, March 9.
