JACKSON - Tomorrow marks the beginning of two online auctions of tax-forfeited properties in Humphreys and Sunflower Counties. Mississippians have the opportunity to bid on 129 parcels in Humphreys County valued at an estimated $759,000, and 146 parcels in Sunflower County valued at an estimated $468,953.
JACKSON – The Secretary of State's Office will host a series of public hearings regarding Initiative Measure No. 65(medical marijuana) in each of the old five Congressional districts, as required by State law. Initiative Measure No. 65 and the legislative alternative, Alternative Measure No. 65A, will be on the 2020 General Election ballot.
JACKSON – After investigating data and concerns brought forth by our office, the Mississippi Attorney General's Office (AG) has filed a lawsuit against Centurion Filing Services, LLC, for alleged deceptive solicitations targeting new Mississippi businesses. This action follows countless complaints to our Business Services Division and a cease-and-desist letter from the AG's Office, to which the company has not responded.

According to customers, the company is soliciting misleading “2020 Certificate of Existence Request Forms” (see image below) to businesses, particularly new businesses, throughout Mississippi.

JACKSON — In conjunction with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), Secretary of State Michael Watson proclaims August 16, 2022, as Help America Vote Day in addition to National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. This day of action is meant to assist poll worker recruitment efforts throughout Mississippi and across the nation.

The Supreme Court has again reaffirmed the Legislature’s grant of authority to the Secretary of State to act as the agent for the State of Mississippi as trustee of the public trust tidelands.
