Primary Runoff Election Day-- TOMORROW

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi's Primary Runoff Election Day is almost here. The August 29 ballot features runoffs in 65 counties including six legislative races.


To familiarize yourself with the upcoming election, visit the My Election Day portal to receive election information tailored to your specific address.


Polls for the August 29 Primary Runoff Election will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. Any voter in line at 7:00 p.m. is legally entitled to cast a ballot. 

Primary Runoff Election Absentee Report (Aug. 28)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, August 28, 2023, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 12,897 absentee ballots requested, 12,604 absentee ballots sent, and 10,415 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2023 Primary Runoff Election. 

K-12 STUDENTS HONORED IN PROMOTE THE VOTE AWARDS CEREMONY

Jackson, Miss.— Secretary of State Michael Watson honored the winners of the 2019 Promote the Vote program during an awards ceremony at the Mississippi Capitol today. Twenty-five students were recognized for their hard work and talent in front of classmates, friends, family, and government officials.

Promote the Vote is Secretary Watson’s comprehensive K-12 voter education program. This year’s “MY vote is MY voice” theme encouraged students to use their voice at the ballot box by voting in a mock election and participating in art and essay contests.

This year’s theme “Voting! The Power to Change the Future!” encourages students to realize the impact voting has for today and generations to come. 

 

Voter Registration Mailers from Third Parties

The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office and County Circuit Clerks have received numerous calls regarding mailers distributed by the private entities Center for Voter Information and Voter Information Center.

The mailers provide that, according to review, someone at the address may not be registered to vote and encourages completion and submission of a voter registration form. This is not official correspondence from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office or County Circuit Clerks and is not an indication of a change in anyone’s voter registration status.
