2024 November General Election Absentee Report (October 28)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, October 28, 2024, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 137,686 absentee ballots requested, 136,372 absentee ballots sent, and 119,818 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election. 

Secretary Watson Presents $11 Million Tidelands Trust Funds Check to MDMR

BILOXI, Miss. – On behalf of the Gulf Coast legislative delegation, Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson presented the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) with a check for $11,000,000, representing the Tidelands Trust Funds amounts collected during Fiscal Year 2024 (for use during Fiscal Year 2025) and appropriated in Senate Bill 3048 during the 2024 Legislative Session.

2024 General Election Day Reminders

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi's 2024 General Election Day is less than one week away. The November 5 ballot features offices of President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Supreme Court Justice, Court of Appeals Judge, School Board Members, County Election Commissioners, and some special elections.


Polls for the General Election will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. Any voter in line at 7:00 p.m. is legally entitled to cast a ballot.

2024 November General Election Absentee Report (November 4)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, November 4, 2024, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 209,037 absentee ballots requested, 208,886 absentee ballots sent, and 197,903 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election. 


Note: Alcorn, Amite, DeSoto, Hancock, Itawamba, Lawrence, Madison, Pearl River, Tishomingo, and Webster Counties have exceeded their 2020 absentee numbers.

Broadwater Marina Set to Begin Major Infrastructure Improvements

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Secretary of State's Office has commenced a restoration project on the Mississippi Gulf Coast aimed at revitalizing the infrastructure of the 30 acre state-owned area known locally as the Broadwater Marina (south of Highway 90).

Funded through a combination of RESTORE Act, GOMESA, and Tidelands resources, the project will ensure the marina’s long-term viability, creating a safe, sustainable space for public use and allow for future economic development.

Charities Filing Deadline

JACKSON, Miss. – As a reminder, Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. is the filing deadline to submit a renewal registration for the following charities:

Campaign Finance Deadline - November 20

JACKSON, Miss. – All opposed judicial candidates in a runoff election, and political committees which have accepted contributions or made expenditures in support of or in opposition to these judicial candidates, and county general and special election candidates in a runoff election must file the Pre-Runoff Report by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Saturday In-Person Absentee Voting Deadline for 2024 General Election Runoffs

JACKSON, Miss. – Saturday, November 23, 2024, is the deadline for in-person absentee voting for the General Election Runoffs. Circuit Clerk's Offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

General Election Runoff Day will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by November 26 and received by Circuit Clerk's Offices by 5:00 p.m. on December 4 in order to count.
