2024 General Election Sample Ballot Now Available

JACKSON, Miss. – The sample ballot for the 2024 November General Election is now available on the Mississippi Secretary of State's website. 


Note: The order of the sample ballot was set forth by the State Board of Election Commissioners in accordance with Miss. Code Ann. Section 23-15-367, which provides nominees of political parties shall be listed first and organized alphabetically by candidate last name. After political party nominees, independent candidates are listed alphabetically by candidate last name.

2024 November General Election Absentee Report (October 7)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, October 7, 2024, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 38,875 absentee ballots requested, 36,539 absentee ballots sent, and 23,434 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election. 

First Responder Absentee Voting Provision

JACKSON, Miss. – As the southeastern United States has been, and continues to be, battered by hurricanes, the Secretary of State's Office reminds voters of the absentee provision for emergency responders deployed on Election Day.

Under Mississippi’s Armed Services Absentee Voting Law (§ 23-15-673), any voter serving as a trained or certified emergency response provider responding to a state of emergency on Election Day qualifies as a Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) voter and may vote absentee.

2024 November General Election Absentee Report (October 14)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, October 14, 2024, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 60,057 absentee ballots requested, 57,920 absentee ballots sent, and 42,102 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election. 

2024 November General Election Absentee Report (October 21)

JACKSON, Miss – As of Monday, October 21, 2024, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 86,525 absentee ballots requested, 84,636 absentee ballots sent, and 67,802 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election. 

Saturday In-Person Absentee Voting Begins; Upcoming Elections Deadlines

JACKSON, Miss. — Circuit clerk offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon for in-person absentee voting this Saturday, October 26, 2024.

The last day to vote in-person absentee is Saturday, November 2, 2024, on which circuit clerk offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by November 5 (Election Day) and received by county circuit clerk offices by November 13.

Statement on Fifth Circuit Ruling

JACKSON, Miss. – According to Rule 40 and Rule 41 of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, the Fifth Circuit Panel's opinion will not take effect until at least November 18th, meaning this will not affect the November 5th General Election.

The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office will continue to digest the opinion and explore all available legal options.
